About the Sustainable Transport Award (STA)

Since 2005, the STA has recognized courageous leadership and vision in sustainable transport and urban livability all around the world. Cities honored by the STA have implemented strategies to improve mobility for millions of people, reduce transport-related emissions, and enhance safety and access for all cyclists and pedestrians.

Every year, ITDP and the STA Committee carefully review cities that have implemented sustainable, equitable transport projects and policies over the preceding year. Cities of all sizes have been recognized by the program for their best practices and forward-thinking innovations to reshape urban environments. Winners and honorable mentions are celebrated at an award ceremony and participate in STA Series programming throughout the year.
