Pune Wins the 2020 Sustainable Transport Award!

Congratulations to Pune, India for their 2020 Sustainable Transport Award win!

Pune won the STA due to its accelerating commitment to all sustainable transit modes, particularly with significant growth in pedestrian infrastructure.  The city has become a regional leader in complete streets, in which streets are designed for all users, rather than only for cars.

About the Sustainable Transport Award

Each year, ITDP and the Sustainable Transport Award Committee select a city that has implemented innovative sustainable transportation projects in the preceding year. These strategies improve mobility for all residents, reduce transportation greenhouse and air pollution emissions, and improve safety and access for cyclists and pedestrians. The winning city and honorable mentions are honored at a ceremony in Washington, DC in January. The winning city hosts MOBILIZE later on that year.  Next year (2020), MOBILIZE will be held in Pune, India.

Nominations for the 2020 Sustainable Transport Award are now closed.
